Can Slow Cooker Cause Fire

After getting your hands on the best slow cooker, it’s easy to feel excited about all the recipes you can do with it. However, before you actually go ahead and give it a try, make sure you know how to safely use it first. In that case, let’s begin with one important question- can slow cooker cause fire?

It’s not impossible.

While slow cookers are designed to cook food for extended periods of time, like most appliances, it’s not ideal to leave it on without someone at home.

If you really need to leave it on while you’re away, make sure that you check the appliance thoroughly, particularly the cord. Inspect for any broken and fraying wires as that can easily start a fire at home.

Additionally, you should check if it’s at the right temperature. You can test your slow cooker first by filling it to about 3/4 full with tap water and heating it up. Set the appliance to low and check the temperature after 8 hours.

For added safety, try installing smoke alarms at home. And if you already have a few units of smoke alarms installed, make sure that they are working properly and that they have working batteries.
