Use a Damp Sponge

Once the soldering iron has cooled down, place your sponge down and rub the tip of your soldering iron on it.

Use a Steel Wool

Rub the tip of your soldering iron with a Brillo pad or steel wool. You have the option to dampen the pad first but make sure that no water gets into the electronics. Rub the pad against the tip to remove any rust or stains.

Use a Wet and Dry Sandpaper

If you don’t have a wet sponge or a steel wool, you can use a few wet and dry sandpapers. Choose the finest grade to avoid leaving scars on the metal or the tip plating.
