Holmes Ultrasonic Filter-Free Humidifier, HM2610-TUM Review

Adding a little moisture to the air makes it even more breathable and also soothes certain discomfort such as congested nasal passage and dry skin. Aromatherapy, is another way to soothe the senses, for some people.

The Holmes Ultrasonic Filter-Free Humidifier combines both those benefits in one air humidifier. It includes a set of aromatherapy tablets that you can use to ease up some stress in your body and nerves. But how effective are those two functions in one unit? We will find out in this review.

Important Features and Specs

This humidifier is designed for medium rooms or slightly bigger than average, with a 1.5 gallon water capacity and 2 gallon per day output. It promotes the benefits of good air quality and provides relief from the irritating effects of dry air. It can help soothe sores due to chapped lips, dry eyes and skin, and clogged nose during the winter. It runs up to 24 hours in one tank filling on medium setting.

The humidifier comes in a compact design with a white base and transparent blue tank. It somehow looks like a classy hand soap dispenser with a rotating nozzle for the mist output. It has to be placed on a flat elevated surface and has dimensions of 11.9 x 23.8 x 16.2 inches, Width, Depth, and Height (WDH) and weighs 6.6 pounds.

One advantage of the Holmes Ultrasonic Filter-Free Humidifier, HM2610-TUM is that it doesn’t require filters. It is ultrasonic so the small vibrations it produces to generate the mist also takes care of the elements that might possibly be in the water you use.

But it is still best to use distilled water for optimal results. The absence of filters make this a more practical unit in the long run. In addition to that, it contains an antimicrobial additive so that the mist always comes out clean and fresh. This antimicrobial protection is infused into the plastic parts to prevent growth of bacteria that can cause stains and odors in the mist.

It features a rotating nozzle on the very top of the unit so you can direct the mist where you’re most comfortable at. The mist comes out in thin visible moist air that evaporates into the room, keeping it fresh and cool. It features variable mist output. On the base is the control panel with simple selections and a single dial. The dial lets you to navigate through the options and select from 40% up to 60% mist output.

It also has a digital humidistat that lets you set your desired comfort level. The empty tank indicator will let you know when it’s time to refill the water tank. However, one missing feature in this model is that it doesn’t have an automatic shutoff, unlike most humidifiers today, that will power off when the machine is low on water. So you might want to keep an eye on the indicator or at least be familiar with how long it really takes till it needs refilling.

The tank cap is especially designed to hold aromatherapy tablets as well as cleaning tablets that treats the water to improve the humidification. It already includes two initial aromatherapy tablets: one eucalyptus mint and pomegranate acai. It is easy to fill and clean. Just lift the tank from the base and open the bottom cap.

Who Should Buy

This ultrasonic humidifier from Holmes is a pretty basic model that offers some nice extras like the aromatherapy feature. The price is pretty much standard as with other humidifiers with the same basic features, however it does lack some functions that would have been expected in this price range like the auto shutoff.

But in place of that, it offers the aromatherapy and a larger water tank. So if you think you can use the aromatherapy feature a lot, this could be a pretty good deal. But if the auto shutoff is more important for you, then it might be more practical to go with a different model.

The Holmes Ultrasonic Filter-Free Humidifier, HM2610-TUM is great for those who need a cool mist humidifier for average to slightly bigger rooms. It offers relief from dry skin and throat caused by dry air and has a nice aromatherapy feature to soothe certain headaches or stress. It is reasonably priced for the extras but offers basic functionality when it comes to humidifier features. Overall, this is a good product to try and has a longer than average runtime.
