Although limescale is generally not harmful to your health, the buildup of mineral deposits in your kettle can affect its performance and reduce the quality of the water. With that, it’s important that you know exactly how to remove limescale from electric kettle.
Below is a step-by-step guide you can follow in getting rid of the buildup in your favorite appliance:
- Take your kettle and fill it halfway full with equal parts of water and vinegar. Bring the mixture to boil and let the kettle switch off itself. Unplug, let the solution sit in your kettle and wait for about half an hour.
- Pour out the solution and rinse the kettle with clean water. Make sure not to get any of the electrical components of the appliance to get wet.
- Check the kettle and see if all the traces of vinegar and limescale have been rinsed away. Once you see that there’s nothing left, you can wipe the kettle with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry.
- After it’s completely dry, you can fill the kettle 3/4 full with water an boil. Discard the water and your kettle is good to use again. Make the best tasting coffee or your favorite tea.
