Exfoliation is something you shouldn’t miss in your skincare routine. This step doesn’t just eliminate dead skin cells but it also helps prevent clogged pores. Additionally, exfoliation also helps lighten up blemishes and reveal a younger-looking skin. However, to experience all of those benefits, it’s important that you know how often to scrub face.
It depends on your skin type
If you have normal and combination skin, you can exfoliate about 2 to 3 times a week. If you have sensitive skin, limit it to once per week. Your skin type gets irritated easily so you’d want to avoid that as much as possible.
When exfoliating, make sure to observe your skin. Even though we’ve shared the general rules, they don’t apply to everyone all the time.
Take a close look at your skin before, during, and after scrubbing it. Stop what you’re doing if you see any intense redness or if you experience discomfort. And to minimize dryness and irritation, make sure to apply a serum or a moisturizer to soothe the skin and replenish its lost vitamins and nutrients.
It’s also a good idea to apply a face mask after exfoliation. This is to make sure that your skin won’t get flaky after.
