Check The Degree of Hotness of Water Before Cleaning Dishes

The temperature recommended to start the cleaning method is 120 Fahrenheit. If you want to remove food residue then increase it to 140 Fahrenheit. Increase if further to 155 for perfect cleaning and bacteria removal. In restaurants, the temperature used is up to 180 Fahrenheit for fast and perfect sanitation of dishwasher. The household dishwasher doesn’t provide perfect cleaning because these standards aren’t followed.

The temperature is the most critical factor in dishwasher cleaning. The temperature in houses these days is maximum 100 Fahrenheit. The lower temperature reduces electrical usage which is more important for consumers these days. Its consequences aren’t shown which might small but is related to your health.

The outcome of lower temperature is inappropriate cleaning which results in dishes having traces of food soil. The food soil attracts micro-organisms. The message shown however, that low temperature is friendly to your environment and is necessary when you’ve children as it can be harmful for them during bath.

Be Very Careful in Selection of Detergent

Two types of detergents are available in the market, one is dish washing and other is dishwasher. You should not use dish washing agent for dishwasher. Huge amount of bubbles are produced causing dishwasher to flood out of it and on to the kitchen floor.

In dishwasher agent, there is either gel or crystal. Both are somehow equal in performance. The crystal however gains moisture from the environment. It then gets hard and doesn’t dissolve that much easily. Whenever you see detergent left after cycle or detergent box enlarged, it’s the crystal detergent with moisture in it. The gel is quicker to absorb and is an ideal if the temperature you work is low.

Always purchase amount detergent of detergent which is efficient for two to three months. After this type the detergent doesn’t provide efficient results. So take only which will last maximum three months.

There are also choices of detergents like one comes with an additive, other specifically to dissolve grease. At the end of the day, if you find a detergent which suits you perfectly then do not switch it.

Use Rinse Additive

The work of a rinse additive is to enable the water to flow off the dishes quickly so they get dry faster. If it’s not there, you’d see little droplets of water on your dishes on every cycle finish. You’d often see some coarse remaining also on the dishes. So, whenever you see the dishes aren’t properly clean, check if the rinse additive is present or not. Its requirement is only 1 or 2 beads for every cycle. So a 100 grams of is more than enough to last a very long time.

There would be a small removable area for adding rinse additive. Consumer often forgets it as the need to add it is once in three months hardly. Some dishwashers now has sensor installed which indicate the level of rinse additive so you can check from time to time.
Proper Loading

People often don’t realize the importance of this step. If items are inserted at their proper locations then cleaning will be better. A highly recommended way of adding dishes properly is,

Top Rack

  • Glasses and cups with bottoms facing upward
  • Spatulas and large items should be lying down

Bottom Rack

  • All plates with be facing same direction

Also, bowls can be in any rack but the direction of all should be same. The same is true for pot with their bottom side facing upward. The utensils need to be utensil holder in such a way that each compartment should have some knives, forks, and spoons so that there is some gap in between them. It will allow water to get through them in an appropriate way so their washing would be better.

Make Sure Your Dishwasher is Working Properly

If you have followed all the above four instructions and still you’re facing problems with dishwasher then there is a mechanical fault. The reason can be if the pressure of water is low, the pump is broken; the draining is not as full as it should be, or the filter is blocked. It can be any one of the reasons or more than that.
